Fellowship Opportunities
We aim to attract and retain the best researchers in the field, and we welcome applications to complete a fellowship in Glasgow.
We have previously been successful in supporting a limited number of strong candidates in applying for prestigious Fellowships. Potential fellowship schemes include:
- Royal Society Fellowships including:
- University Research Fellowships. For scientists who are at an early stage of their research career (three to eight years post-PhD excluding career breaks). Expressions of interest are needed by 10 June 2024 and confirmation of intent to submit by 18 July 2024.
- Newton International Fellowships. For non-UK scientists who are at an early stage of their research career (having a PhD by the start of the fellowship and wish to conduct research in the UK).
- STFC Fellowships Including:
- STFC Ernest Rutherford Fellowship. For early career scientists with leadership potential. Expressions of interest are needed by 19 July 2024.
- Horizon Europe. For coming to the UK.
- EPSRC Fellowships.
- Royal Society of Edinburgh Fellowships
Applicants may also be eligible for the University’s Lord Kelvin/Adam Smith Fellowship which provides additional funds (up to £100k) if the application is successful.
All applications are reviewed internally by the University to provide feedback and help strengthen applications. This means internal deadlines are several weeks before the final submission deadlines. There is information from the College of Science and Engineering about the application procedures. Typically, an up-to-date CV and a 2 page summary of the proposal will be useful.
If you are interested in applying for a fellowship, postdoctoral research award, or any other award, please contact Prof. Sheila Rowan.
